Risk Disclosure Statement

Last updated: August 13, 2026

This risk disclosure statement is provided in accordance with best practices for financial services websites. Please read it carefully before using any trading tools or information provided by SteadyPips.

Trading foreign exchange (Forex) carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to trade foreign exchange, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. There is a possibility that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with foreign exchange trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.

Forex Trading Risks

Trading foreign exchange (Forex) on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Before deciding to trade forex, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite.

Key risks include:

  • Leverage risk: The high degree of leverage available in forex trading can work against you as well as for you. Leverage can lead to large losses that exceed your initial deposit.
  • Market risk: Currency prices can be highly volatile and are influenced by many factors including economic data, geopolitical events, central bank decisions, and market sentiment.
  • Liquidity risk: In certain market conditions, it may be difficult or impossible to execute trades at desired prices.
  • Gap risk: Prices can gap significantly between trading sessions, especially over weekends, potentially triggering stop-losses at worse prices than expected.

How Leverage Amplifies Losses

Leverage lets you control a position larger than your account balance by putting up only a fraction of its value as margin. That fraction cuts both ways: a small price move against you produces a proportionally larger loss on your margin than the same move would on an unleveraged cash position, because the position is sized against its full notional value, not the margin you deposited. Higher leverage and larger position sizes mean a given adverse move consumes a larger share of your account equity — which is why leverage is the single largest amplifier of both gains and losses in margin trading.

Automated Trading Risks

Expert Advisors (EAs) and automated trading systems carry additional risks:

  • Technical failure: EAs can malfunction due to software bugs, connectivity issues, or platform errors.
  • Over-optimization: An EA that performs well in backtesting may not perform the same way in live markets (curve fitting).
  • Market regime changes: EAs are typically designed for specific market conditions. When conditions change, performance may deteriorate significantly.
  • Execution risk: Slippage, requotes, and order execution delays can affect EA performance.
  • VPS/Server risk: If your VPS or computer goes offline, the EA cannot manage open positions.

Backtests Can Be Wrong, Not Just Optimistic

A backtest is a simulation, and it depends on the correctness of the code that produces it — a defect in the testing pipeline can silently misstate every result, not only in the optimistic direction. On July 30, 2026, we published a correction after finding that our backtest engine had decoded each hourly price bar’s high and low in the wrong order, which corrupted every stop-loss and take-profit touch check as well as the indicator calculations built on top of it. The corrected figures, published on our Performance page, are worse for two of the three affected EAs: QuickPulse no longer passes our quality gate on any currency pair, and DualHorizon’s USDJPY result — previously a pass — no longer clears the gate. Only the current figures on the Performance page are accurate; do not rely on backtest numbers quoted elsewhere on this site without checking them against that page first. This is also a general illustration of backtest-versus-live divergence: even a correctly-run backtest can still diverge from how the same EA performs on a live account, because simulation cannot fully reproduce real-world execution.

Past Performance Disclaimer

Past performance is not indicative of future results. Trading results shown on this website are hypothetical and do not guarantee future performance.

Any trading results, backtests, or performance metrics shown on this website are hypothetical and do not guarantee future performance. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, including:

  • They are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight
  • They do not reflect actual trading and may not account for all market factors
  • No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown
  • They are sensitive to the exact test window, data source, and position-sizing assumptions behind them — our Performance page documents those for each published figure — and a strategy that clears a quality threshold over one historical window is not guaranteed to clear it over a future one, since market regimes change

No Guarantee of Any Outcome

Nothing on this Site, including any EA, guide, backtest table, or quality-gate pass/fail label, is a guarantee of any trading outcome. A quality gate clearing our own thresholds — profit factor, drawdown, and trade-count minimums we set ourselves, described on the Performance page — reflects performance against historical data under our test conditions, not a promise about your account or future market behavior.

Suitability — Who Should Not Trade

Forex trading is not suitable for all investors. You should not trade forex if:

  • You cannot afford to lose your entire investment
  • You do not understand how leverage works
  • You are not comfortable with high-risk investments
  • You need the money for essential living expenses or to meet debts and other fixed financial obligations
  • You have not first tested the EA and its settings on a demo account
